Gay Mitchell

Gay Mitchell was born in Victoria in 1956. “It was at home I learned the disciplines of art and music and became committed to the creative process.”

Gay received a Bachelor `s of Education in Visual Art (Secondary) at the University of British Columbia in 1982. She also studied at Vancouver School of Art, University of Victoria, Camosun College, and Regent College, exploring art, music, and theology.

For fifteen years Gay was a graphic and fine arts supply salesperson and has worked as a graphic artist and antique printer.

As an artist Gay Mitchell has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and presently works out of her studio in Port Moody. She adjudicates and mentors emerging artists and has taught at Place des Arts, Port Moody Arts Centre and Evergreen Cultural Centre since 1996.      

For the past thirty-nine years Gay has been engaged as a visual artist, musician, and educator. “Visual images express my personal response to creation, illuminating a sojourn and a sense of place.”
