November meeting

Join us for an interesting presentation by Ilena Lee, a Vancouver potter. Ilena has a degree in both Ceramic Sculpture and Theatre from the University of Alaska. Her ceramics have been shown all over the lower mainland and the US and commissioned from as far away as Germany, the UK, and Australia. Ilena had a research grant from St Andrew’s Church to dig up information on the brickworks that was formerly located in Port Moody. She has considerable knowledge on finding and processing wild clay and then making and firing her creations in a pit fire situation. She has given several workshops in the Vancouver area so this presentation will be a wonderful opportunity for members to learn more about Port Moody’s history as well as its clay, where to find it and tips on processing it.

PS: Coffee and tea is provided and members volunteer to bring snacks. Please remember that PoMoArts is a nut free location. Also, Soda Firers, please bring a favourite pot to show from the recent firing.
